Martin Jaros in Australia

Born on November 13th, 1976 in West Germany (the non-communist half of the country at the time) to Czech parents, it was at the age of 7 that Martin moved with his parents and sister to Australia.

He studied first in Hobart, Tasmania, and then at age 11 moved to Melbourne, Victoria, where he studied at University High School in a special program for gifted children. During his high school studies he completed a number of university courses in mathematics, and went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the age of 19.

Martin Jaros excelled as a student, he participated in numerous state and country-wide organizations & competitions. He consistently placed in the top 1% in mathematics, science & geography competitions, he was one of the first students to participate in MUPHAS (Melbourne University Program for High Achieving Students) Program. He won top honors in 1995 in a state-wide competition for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, and joined numerous student societies including National Golden Key Honor society, Monash Alumni Association and later (after his MBA) the Beta Gamma Sigma alumni association in the US. He was also a member of the Australian Institute of Managers (AIM).

Martin was actively involved in community and social projects from an early age, he was treasurer of the first public TV channel in Victoria (SEA TV) where he also tried his hand at editing/producing short news segments and was involved in learning how to manage community groups. Martin was then Sponsorship director for CITSKI, Monash University’s oldest (and often largest) student club, where he worked closely with corporate sponsors & events directors to support and promote CITSKI’s image and prestige.

During his time in Australia, Martin Jaros was very interested to learn about business from an early age, first doing pharmacy runs for retired people at age 12, and then working in a part-tme job as soon as he turned 15 (the legal age ). Martin started working first at Burger King (franchised as Hungry Jacks) reaching the position of Assistant Manager at age of 17, he then founded his first company at age 18, and won a sub-contract with the Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) Bank, where he was solely responsible for the backup & disaster recovery preparedness of ANZ customer data, and worked closely to implement a major Y2K update to the data systems. He also worked numerous companies at various PC & Home trade shows (including Artomation, Pulsar Technics, Computers Click Here and Bass Computers) helping to bring PC’s to the masses.
